Shalom to the GRJC family,
Eight years ago I came to GRJC straight out of Seminary, knowing almost nothing about the real world and what it meant in practical terms to be a Rabbi. The community welcomed me and made me part of this family. The GRJC family was patient with me and taught me so much, giving me the opportunity to grow and mature and become the Rabbi I am today. It has been a blessing to be part of the GRJC ‘mishpachah’. At this moment, new challenges await.
As we celebrate spring, and the roads and paths invite us outdoors after a long winter, I share with you that next summer I will complete my service as Rabbi of the Glen Rock Jewish Center, and my family and I will move to the next step in our family journey and my journey as a Rabbi. My family and I hope for the chance to move closer to both our families. Through the transition, at the end of June 2015, I will continue to be active and engaged in the GRJC.
I look back over these past eight years, and forward to parting moments next spring, and the feeling is bittersweet. I am proud of the things we accomplished over the past eight years: The first congregational trip to Israel, The annual Zimriyah, Three Adult Bnai Mitzvah programs, Creation of a Chevra Kadisha, High Holiday teen programs, Creation of the GRJC computer lab, All Shabbat prayers recorded and available on the website, Annual MLK Shabbat Tribute, The Interfaith Study Class, the Apples & Honey High Holiday program, Creation of the ‘Shabbat Companion’ booklet, The Hebrew Immersion Curriculum, Tzedakah work after Hurricane Sandy, and more, and there is more that we will do together this year! I have faith in the GRJC family, a family I have been privileged to know and work with, to carry the synagogue forward from strength to strength.
May God guide us always on pathways of peace.
With blessings,
Rabbi Tow
